How we got into beekeeping and natural farming
Years back, after not feeling like we had the energy that we should, our family began researching and experimenting with changes in our diet. We cut out most processed foods, soda, and unhealthy snacks from our diet. We limited the amount of white sugar in our foods, threw out store bought flour, and purchased a wheat grinder to made our own freshly ground bread and pastries. After learning about the benefits of raw milk, we
bought a milk cow and enjoyed homemade cheese, yogurt, ice cream, and refreshing creamy milk. After learning about the benefits of eating grass-fed meat, we embarked on the adventure of raising our own meat. We also started raising honey bees and quickly realized that the store bought brands could not live up to the taste of unprocessed, raw honey. Today, doctors visits are rare and we feel a tremendous increase in our energy and health. Our family notices a difference in how we feel if we revert back to more processed foods or eat out too often.
Friends and family were fascinated by our lifestyle changes and started requesting some of the "harvest" from our farm. We decided it was time to extend our dinner table to others. There's nothing that tastes better than local, fresh produce and meat raised on a small family farm. We care about our animals and are concerned about the harmful pesticides that factory farmed food is exposed to. We are still in the learning process as we make changes to the way we've lived for so long, but enjoy passing on the information we've learned to others.
