There are immeasurable benefits to establishing a honey bee hive in your backyard:

One third of our food supply is dependant upon the pollination of honey bees. Produce and fruit from vegetable gardens and orchards may be larger and more abundant after introducing one or two hives into your backyard.

Honey bee population has significantly decreased over the last several decades. We are in dire need of dedicated beekeepers who will help the honey bees survive.

Studies indicate that establishing managed bee hives in an area known to have africanized bees can greatly reduce their spread.

Pure, raw honey is significantly healthier than refined sugar and is a delicious treat! Local raw honey that has not been processed is also significantly healthier then store bought honey that has been heated and pasturized. This is because heating honey destroys it's healthy enzymes. Local honey has a better chance of not having pesticides/chemicals in it, where most store bought honey is imported and it's difficult to know how the hives have been managed and the amount of chemicals used to manage them.
